Ministry Residency
An InterVarsity Ministry Residency is a perfect fit for those seeking to discern their calling in ministry.
What exactly is a Ministry Residency?
Campus Ministry Residency programs are 12 months (for May hires) or 18 months (for December hires), and allow you to have ample experience with help and supervision nearby in the form of a dedicated coach. Typically, multiple residents will participate together in a residency “hub.”
Our residency program is built to give extra support in three aspects of ministry:
Ministry Partnership Development (Fundraising)
Campus Minister Formation
Spiritual Direction & Vocational Discernment
Tim Borgstrom, MPD Coach
Ministry Partnership Development
Developing partnerships and raising funds are integral aspects of our calling as campus ministers. My role is to partner with new staff to provide training and coaching in ministry partner development from the time they begin their staff journey until they are fully funded. I provide weekly coaching during the initial stages of your staff journey, and coaching as needed on an ongoing basis. I am passionate about walking alongside staff to steward the long term health of our campus ministers!

Amanda Millar, Staff Formation Director
Campus Minister Formation
I lead a cohort-based training program designed to help ministry residents advance their personal growth and develop their gifts and skills as campus ministers. Residents meet 2x each month virtually to participate in training modules centered on the "core activities" of a campus staff minister. Once a semester, residents gather in person for community and continued professional development. Our staff formation team also provides 1-1 coaching as needed to equip residents with tools for discernment, growth, and development. We encourage and facilitate weekly prayer, monthly retreat of silence, optional spiritual direction, vocational discernment, and a yearly Spiritual formation retreat.
Terry Fisher, Spiritual Formation Coordinator
Spiritual Formation & Vocational Discernment
My job is to walk alongside you and provide space to grow deeper in your awareness of God and your love for Him. Our spiritual directors will pay attention to your story and encourage your spiritual growth. We incorporate Spiritual formation elements in your normal staff formation meetings and we offer monthly virtual retreat days and annual 2-3 day retreats. We also provide vocational discernment meetings in your first year on staff.
